DEFINITELY IS ABOUT WORDS

Are you the type of person who thinks that using unfamiliar and formal words will make you more serious...?

Have in mind that at the moment of communicate a message, you have to know about your audience. Although, the message that you want to give is the same, it is always different who is receiving it and the way that the person understands it. 


PLAIN LANGUAGE AND FAMILIAR WORDS: 
Use words that you know your audience will understand easily and do not struggle on recognizing the meaning. But at the same time, do not avoid those words that you know will conveys your message efficiently and is appropriate for your audience. 
For example: If you mean begin, avoid commence; if you mean pay, avoid compensate.
Moreover, the properly use of jargon is also relevant, because "it is that special language belonging exclusively to a group" - Dictionary.com (2015). Use specialized language only when you know that your audience is able to understand. 

EMPLOYING PRECISE AND VIGOROUS WORDS:
If you want to keep your audience interested and informed be aware of using strong verbs and concrete nouns. But do not overlook the dictionary for expanding your vocabulary, because you just have to use specific words whenever is possible. For example: To think about it (imprecise) - to identify, analyze, examine (more precise)
Do not forget that precise but familiar words will make your audience understand your idea without any misunderstand. Therefore, having an open but simply vocabulary is one of the key to express yourself.
